Camp Menotomy, Meredith, N.H., opened Sunday,
July 2, with 46 campers. The girls came from Belmont,
Arlington, Winchester, Lexington, Waltham, Melrose, Concord,
and Sharon, Mass.; Newton, Etna, and Hanover, N.H.; Bedford
Hills and Pelham, N. Y.; and Englewood, N. J.
The names of the charter campers will be
cut on a "Charter Beech." A dedicatory campfire
was held Sunday evening at which each camper voiced her
wish for the future success of the camp.
On the Fourth of July, colors were raised
formally for the first time at Camp Menotomy. Color Sergeant
was Marjorie Wright of Belmont. Color Guards were Marjorie
McNaney of Arlington, Ann Stone of Sharon, Ann Frothingham
of Bedford Hills, N.Y.
Tennis and water sports occupied most of
the day. A buffet supper was served at 6:30 followed by
a horrible's parade and a musical and dramatic program
in the Old Barn. Virginia Wunderley, Massachusetts Girl Scout champion
drummer was a guest entertainer.
