(September 26, 2008 – Weirs, NH.) Now through October 28, each person who supports the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society by attending its Bingo charity fundraising games will receive a free One Year membership. LWHS hosts Bingo every Tuesday and Saturday at the Funspot Bingo Hall, Route 3, Weirs Beach. Membership forms are available at the counter when you purchase your package.
The Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society is competing against 32 other participating New Hampshire historical societies for a chance to win a $25,000 prize from the Robert & Karin Finlay Foundation. This generous membership challenge will be awarded to the historical society who increases its membership the most through October 31, 2008, as determined by both an increase in the total number of new members and the percentage increase.
Since this challenge began in November 2007, LWHS has increased its membership from 112 to 290, with a goal to reach 500 by October 31, 2008. LWHS is always seeking new members, but this is a terrific opportunity to receive additional funds from a generous foundation to support its mission. New membership incentives are also being offered.
Established to preserve and promote the history and heritage of Lake Winnipesaukee, the society offers memberships at $10 One Year; $25 Five Year, and $100 Lifetime. In addition to regular membership benefits, new membership gift incentives for 5 Year and Lifetime Memberships include free LWHS Bingo gift certificates, free copy of “Reminisce the Valley” by Dr. Bruce Heald, and Collectible Weirs Times Special Editions “History of Motorcycle Week” and “Titanic.”
Memberships may be purchased for yourself or given as a gift to a friend or family member. It’s easy to sign up: (1) Come play Bingo on Tuesday or Saturday and receive a free One Year membership (or purchase a higher level membership if you choose); (2) register online at www.LakeWinnipesaukeeMuseum.org; (3) mail a check in the appropriate amount to LWHS, PO Box 5386, Weirs, NH 03247; or (4) call the Lake Winnipesaukee Museum at 603-366-5950. Just let LWHS know when you register if this is being given as a gift and a special presentation will be created.
LWHS hosts charity Bingo fundraising games every Tuesday at 6:45pm and two games on Saturday, with an afternoon session 4:30-5:30pm and an evening session 6:45-9:30pm; doors open at 3:00pm. Approximately 5,000 hours are donated annually to LWHS by a dedicated group of hard-working volunteers in order to implement this fundraising activity.
